Exclamation Why is the Sunspear Arena always nearly empty? Get in there !

Ok, 9pm PST last night, the game was full everywhere I went. However upon going to Sunspear Arena American district 1 there were only 5 people there, including me...

What gives?

I know they rolled out the Arena 5 days -AFTER- game launch, but come on...

It's sitting in the middle of Kamaden, "Yahir" next to the consulate, the most active place in the GW world right now due to Nightfall being new...

Is random-team low level PvP just no longer popular -at all-?

Let's get some characters in there, sure it may lack the respect of 'PvP pros' (who needs their respect anyway), but it's a great place to learn the ropes, even if you have to learn them by having ranked PvPers come in with elite-unlocked skills to show their uncool by lording it over you in smack-down fights...

I loved the arenas in Shing Jea and Ascalon - they gave me a chance to test builds and learn PvP. I'd like to see some of you in Sunspear Arena throwing my characters around the room a bit so I could learn more...

(Apparently threads on this variety of player v player combat are not suited to the PvP forum, so this is being moved here. :| )

I was there the other night. There were 3 people standing around. It complained that my party size was too big when I tried to join (I was the only one in my party list), so I left, thinking that it was bugged.

Personally I dislike the low-level arenas. I have fought in the Factions one only to come up against people that are above the level limit. (they stay in the arena as they level up) I have fought in the Ascalon one only to have things like Flesh Golem and max armor thrown in my face.

I have no interest in the Sunspear arena because it will just be more of the same. I prefer to go to the full-on PvP areas where it's a level playing field.

I started by brining over my characters from Tyria/Cantha .. so they not able to a partake...

That and the npc / how to get there is not obvious.. from what I've seen.

He's telling the truth.

To be honest, Anet should force you to visit this place, and give some XP/Money quest reward to help people realize it's there.

People prefer to go to RA with their low level characters and then (I presume) laugh after their team rage quits.

As much as I love the low-level PvP arenas I don't do them anymore, because any new character I make I try to get the survivor title. If low level PvP didn't cause a death to count towards /deaths I would for sure play it.

ah.. there's a low lvl arena in istan? why couldn't i have known about it while my dervish was still low lvl.

i enjoy low level arenas until you start hitting teams w/ players running elites, max armor and sup runes. shingjea arenas was fun until the players running max flesh golems, double dragon and 80 AL ruined for a while.

I think they should at least run a basic check and limit players to the max armor for that area, and no elite skills.
of course ascalon is just screwed up w/ people getting run to drok's at lvl 1, and guildies helping them cap elites off the ring of fire.

Oh great! Always enjoyed lowlvl PvP (except Ascalon/Shiverpeak Arenas when the Drokstwinks flooded it), but after searching everywhere on the first day of release, I thought there is no and will never be an arena for lowlevels. Now my chars are all 20. I somehow get a bit the feeling the game wasn't really ready for release on the 27th. For example the 15th hero, who is even described in the manual, is now supposed to be added within a few months. Oh, I better stop now, I'm getting dangerously close to start ranting

This happens when you have heroes in your party before you map somewhere with a max party size of 1.
Fix is to zone to remove heroes, then zone back.

I also did not notice the arena o0.

low level arenas are stupid. you always end up fighting people who cheat, and by cheating i mean run through the campaign and get armor that is suposed to be for high level characters and skills form the same areas.
